We met our guide Su again and this time were joined by two Israeli girls and a father and his little boy from Vietnam in addition to the Thai guy. As a result of the extra people this group was much slower than yesterday when we were virtually on our own. As such Su tailored the route to the easiest possible way, which meant we spent a lot of time walking along the road.
Janelle and I kept trying to get Su to lead the group into the fields and she finally relented and we started walking among the rice terraces.
We came to a downward slope on the trail and Janelle and I bounded ahead of everyone. I turned back to look at the group and the Vietnamese man was doing this strange crablike crawl down the hill. The two Israeli girls were being helped by local women to descend. Here is a short video of what they all looked like.
Everyone was really nice and they were all trying hard, I just don't think they walk outdoors as much as Janelle and I do.
We went to Lao Chai Village, the village that Su is from to have lunch. We weren't able to see Su's house because it was on the opposite side of the village from where we were which was a bit disappointing. We also walked through Ta Van village but strangely only saw one person there who was wearing their traditional clothing.
We took some photos today that I think are pretty good, here are a couple of my favorites:
We were taken back to the hotel to have showers and eat dinner before being taken back to the train station where we arrived at 6:30 for our 10pm train back to Hanoi. The train ride back to Hanoi was much less eventful, we shared our cabin with a French couple and did not have anyone sleeping in the hallway.
