Cau Lau

We rented bicycles for $1 and rode them all over Hoi An. Janelle went back to look at the first draft of her dress and it was nearly perfect. We were told to come back at 2pm when all of the alterations were complete. We stopped to take some pictures of the river next to a bridge and a motorbike with a local on it lost control and skidded along the road and came to a stop where the bridge met the road. There were many people around but no one came over to help him and people trying to get across the bridge honked at him until he was able to get back up and then they all raced past him as he tried to recompose himself before he drove off.

We found another place to have lunch that had Cau Lau and fresh beer, they were both delicious. You are supposed to stir up your Cau Lau to mix all of the ingredients together. A woman who worked at the restaurant saw that we didn't know this and came over to mix ours up for us. When the waitress saw me pull out my camera to document it and she started to pose.

Then she started to feed Janelle her lunch.

The staff was really friendly and we had a great time.

We went back to pickup Janelle's dress and it was perfect. It's pretty cool how you can design anything you want in an fabric to any measurements and they can make it in less than 24 hours. I think I'm going to try and get a suit made in Bangkok before I leave Southeast Asia.

We got back to the hotel at 2:20pm and I asked them about arranging transport for us to Da Nang but was told that there wasn't going to be anything they could do for me until 4pm. I told them to wait to book us on the 4pm transfer as I had picked up a card in town of another company and would see if they could come sooner. The hotel made a quick call and we had a driver pick us up 10 minutes later.

We transferred to Da Nang because we have an 8am flight tomorrow morning and didn't want to have to leave our hotel at 5:30am. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach enjoying the sunshine.
