I fell in love with a ..... motorbike

My pimped out, pink motorbike

We rented a motorbike and drove it to a the top of a mountain to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep with Amazing views of Chiang Mai and then finally found some waterfalls in Thailand!

The first two times we rented a motorbike we mostly drove on flat streets around the town we were in. Today however we headed up a series of winding roads outside of Chiang Mai. It was amazing, the turning of the road, the sun shining, the wind in my face, it was like being on a roller coaster ride but I was in control! There were stunning views along the way up.

Once we got to the top we had to climb about a million stairs to actually get to the Wat.

She wasn't all smiles after climbing all of those stairs.

Foreigners of course had to purchase tickets while Thai people were free. I think to some degree it makes sense that non Buddhists should pay more becasue to them it's not a religious place but some place to witness someone else's religion and to take in the views.

Janelle couldn't get in becasue she wasn't covering herself enough, so we took turns going in. I was wearing swimming trunks under my shorts, so I let her borrow my shorts to get in.

Afterwards we drove to some waterfalls in the nearby National Park. We had to be very careful though becasue there were some dangerous characters lurking about.

We went for a swim at one waterfall that was about 5 meters tall, with a really concentrated stream that made it hard to stand under. After Janelle and I had played in the water for a bit, we were walking away to get dried off when we were approached by four Thai teenagers who asked if they could get a photo taken with us. We agreed as long as we could take a photo with them on my camera as well. Here is the photo from my camera:

Having the motorbike enabled us to drive around Chiang Mai more and we found a giant Walmart sized supermarket where we stocked up on the essentials; jumbo packs of snickers and breakfast bars.

Check out all of today's pictures by watching the slide show below:
