Cold, wet and sore

Written sunday night:

The forcast was for thunderstorms this afternoon. I woke up to rain hitting the roof of the shelter at 7am. The rain didn't really let up all day and it made the temperature drop, its in the 40's, which isn't bad if u are in ur sleeping bag but being out of the sleeping bag is very cold.

I hiked 12 miles today and my knees are very sore. I slipped 2 times and fell once. I didn't hit anything when I fell but it was very frustrating.

The trail goes up and down and at the top of the ups are balds, basically a mountain top without any trees for spectacular views. Unless of course its raining and foggy and then u just climb up to get battered by the wind, the cold and the rain as was the case for me.

When I made it to the shelter I got the last spot available inside the shelter and everyone after me had to set up their tents in the cold/rain.

Blues and Matt are planning to head into Gatlinburg on Tuesday which was my initial plan, but now I'm going to try to make it to gatlinburg tomorrow and take at least two zero days.
