My dad and I made it to the airport at 10am for our 11am. I went to check in my bag at the airtran counter and there is a $15 fee for the first bag. I told the lady I didn't think I should have to pay. I'm skinny. The whole reason for the charge cannot be for space taken up, the space is already in the lower compartment of the plane and they started doing it when gas prices were high, so it must be the extra weight that causes more fuel to be used. I think there should be a person plus luggage weight limit and then a person pays more for going over that.
The flight was initially delayed 30 minutes then an hour. They then loaded us up only to tell us the weather was too bad in Atlanta and they were going to unload us and give us an update at 1pm. My dad and I grabbed some beers and ate tacos at an airport bar. We got back to the gate shortly after 1pm and the plane was already loaded and ready to go. Only instead of leaving we sat on the runway in the plane for a while.
We finally made it to Atlanta around 4:45, just in time for traffic. Its not so much raining here but more like rain clouds have descended on everything, its dark foggy and misty.
For dinner we went to a cajun place that only had four tables and looked like someones kitchen in a shopping center. I decided I didn't want to experiment on my last meal so we left there and went to an italian restaurant with a microbrewery, more my style. We got mozerella sticks, pizza and beers. I gave my ID willingly as I am usually asked for it. The waitress took it and gave it back to me and then asked my dad for his. "Are you blind" he exclaimed. She wasn't joking or blind, must have be his sexy turtleneck!
And yet I have nothing to complain about, I don't have a job, I'm not in school and I'm living my dreams. Let the journey begin.
