We drove to U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world at 1.2km, where we chatted with locals who were all really nice. On the way to the bridge locals would ride up next to us while we were driving and ask where we were going and then give us directions. The people of Myanmar are beyond friendly.
Janelle asked me to stop the bike near the rail road tracks becasue there were pretty views of the river and she took this picture while I crossed the road and chatted with women who were selling candy and tried a little bit of the super sweet fudge like candy.
Everywhere we went people kept smiling and waving at us. We also found all kinds of really amazing temples.
We drove to a town called Mingun where we were told that we had to pay a fee as a tourist to simply be in the town. After much argument with the ticket guys we finally relented and paid the $2 each as we had driven a really long way to get there. Mingun is famous for it's incomplete stupa which would have been the worlds largest if it had ever been completed but was abandoned when the king who commissioned it died. Mingun also has the worlds heaviest functioning bell. Here is a picture of me inside of the Mingun bell:
We headed back to Mandalay as the sun was setting to have dinner.
Today was one of those really amazing days. Tomorrow we leave our travel buddies and take an early morning day bus to Bagan.
