Wednesday morning I went and did my laundry at a local laundry mat to get out the smell of my own sweat and cigarette smell that I get in my clothes when I go out. I really hate other people’s smoke in my clothes, YUCK!
Yvonne and I drove to Ludwigsburg and walked around a castle and garden. The garden was decorated with thousands of pumpkins recreating many famous fairy tales. It reminded me of going to pick pumpkins and playing apple baseball, a game my dad and I created where we throw mushy apples and smack them with the apple picking stick. I started to feel really homesick thinking about missing out on doing that this year and missing out on other things back at home.
Then we drove to Karlsruhe where Michea, Yvonne’s brother, lives. Michea got some friends together and we all went go karting. These are the superfast go karts where you have to wear helmets and get lots of instructions. Before we started I was thinking about how good I was going to be and how impressed all of the Germans would be with the speedy American. As it turns out I am awful, I think it’s because I don’t know how to turn properly, but I got passed by everyone and finished in dead last both times. My fastest lap was slower than most other peoples average lap speed. For some reason it makes me feel like less of a man to be so awful at go karting.
Yvonne took a bunch of artsy pictures today so there are over 100 in total.
