Having fun at the fountains
All of the major European cities that I have visited have companies that organize Pub Crawls, where you pay 10-15 Euro and you get a tee shirt and they take you around to different bars and clubs where you get a free drink. I haven’t gone on any because I am cheap, I don’t have any club clothes and I hear they often aren’t that great. Some people from the hostel were going on a pub crawl last night, but I decided to stick around the hostel and see what other people were up to.
I hung out with a group of people from South American countries, or that spoke Spanish and we played games and hung out in the common room until it closed at midnight. Then we decided to go on our own crawl, but a crawl to fountains instead of pubs. We all loaded up our backpacks and headed out into the streets. At every fountain we came to we played a game, took a group picture and tried to recruit other people to join us. We were highly successful at all three and our group gradually grew to include five new people on top of our initial nine.
We went to so many fountains I cannot even remember how many we all went to. I took some pictures of the night but other people took more pictures, but they have yet to post them online, once they do I will repost them on here. I had a really fun time and didn’t make it back to the hostel until after 5:30 in the morning, there are a lot of fountains in Rome.
I was very careful to be quiet and not wake the French guys in my room. They however were not so courteous come 8am when they woke up and got in a pillow fight and were throwing things about the room shouting in French while naked.
I spent the rest of the day wandering the streets of Rome. I went to Circus Massimo, which is now just a large oval shaped field. I walked along the river and again walked more than I wanted to, but it is beautiful here and quite enjoyable to see everything.
